"As we approach our 30th Anniversary, Chrysties Furnishing Centre has developed into the Border’s leading furniture and flooring destination."

"Established in 1990 by well known and respected husband and wife team Bob and Marion Chrystie, immediately the local people of Hawick supported the store. This support is still here today and the main reason we decided to expand the business and set it on course for the next 30 years. Never one to rest on our laurels, we have recently undergone a major expansion project at our store which sees the introduction of a new La-Z-Boy Gallery, taking our store to over 20,000 sq ft. All renovation work was carried out by local trades people ensuring that the local economy benefited from one of the towns largest and longest established retailers."

“Coming up for our 30th year in business I was determined to transform what was in fact an area of the shop that had been neglected for many years and that we had used latterly as a clearance centre. To say it was basic was an understatement and had no direct entrance from the shop which along with no heating was not an area for the faint hearted!”

"We began discussions with Aitken and Turnbull (architects) who came up with various proposals and after receiving a civil engineers report we proceeded to obtain a building warrant. The work entailed building the equivalent of a timber frame kit within the existing building and of course linking it to the rest of the showroom by forming two new entrances. All good and completed in three months using local tradesmen and doing all the joinery work ourselves.”

"We spent a lot of time discussing what brand to use in the new area to create its own identity and to widen our upholstery offer. At the end of the day the the answer was in front of us. We were stocking some LaZboy models in our existing showroom which were being very successful so it made sense to devote the new area to LaZboy and create a LaZboy Gallery showing the unique characteristics of the brand. It has now become one of the most popular areas of the whole showroom.”
